After spending a day at Honda R&D, it was pretty cool to be able to test out Honda's Collision Mitigation Braking System first hand in a controlled environment. The system is designed to help reduce the likelihood of a potential collision by alerting the driver and then, if necessary, applying the brakes if a collision is determined to be unavoidable.

Depending on the circumstances, CMBS may not go through all the alert stages before initiating the last stage (of collision mitigation). CMBS cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation can be affected by high interior heat. The driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions. Basically, don't go test this on your friends...or enemies.
